IRSPA has experienced many fruitful years and we are looking forward to 2018-2019 and beyond. Our 2018 Annual Meeting will be held October 3-4, 2018 in Iowa City and many tours (Hawkeye Hall of Fame and the University of Iowa Kinnick Stadium Press Box, and those touring the press box will be able to look across the football field and view the Stead Family Childrens' Hospital). Other tours will be offered around the U. of Iowa Campus on Wednesday afternoon, October 3. More information will be forth coming as the October dates get closer. Additional information and the registration form will be included in the June, 2018 and September, 2018 IRSPA Newsletters.
The IRSPA Constitution and By-Laws have been reviewed and many changes have been made mostly in the verbiage/editorial changes. The changes can be found on the page of this website before the newsletters. The changes were reviewed and voted on and approved by the IRSPA members in attendance at the October4, 2017 Business meeting at the Annual Meeting in Waterloo on October 4.
The IRSPA Membership cards have been printed and should be in the hands of unit presidents, who will be handing the cards out to their members.
VOLUNTEERS MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE and our 46 units in our six districts have been working very hard to keep a record of all our individual hours in 2016-2017 years. In 2015-16 IRSPA totaled 413.291 hours from 5,919 members at a national rate of $23.56 per hour, which totaled $9,737,135.30. this is $515,104.40 more than 2014-2015. In early November, 2016, then IRSPA President Dawn Rogers, President-Elect Chris Campidilli and AARP State Director Kent Sovern went to DesMoines and met with the then Governor Terry Brandstad to present a mock check for $9,737,135.30 the total amount of what our IRSPA members donated in time and effort. A picture of that ceremony appeared in the following March IRSPA Newsletter.
